Waiting For January Again

January is coming up fast enough as it is. That’s usually when the temptation to wait kicks in hardest, not years away from a fresh start, but weeks away.

It’s an easy trade to talk yourself into. A few more weeks of winging it, then January 1st, a clean plan, Proverbs 1 on day one, everything lined up the way it’s supposed to be.

Except that’s not actually how the waiting usually goes.

The weeks between now and January don’t hold still. They fill up with whatever’s already filling them up. Then January shows up, day one gets missed for some reason or another, and the “clean start” already has a crack in it before week two.

This plan runs by the date, not the calendar year. Today has a chapter attached to it already. You don’t need January to make that chapter count.

If you start now, nothing gets diluted by starting mid-stream. You’re just reading from wherever we currently are, same as everyone else already doing it.

The reset in January will still happen. It happens every year. That’s not the part you need to wait for.
