Before you begin, here are the practical details.
Which Bible Version Should I Use?
Whichever one you have.
There are differences between translations. Some are more literal. Some are easier to read.
That matters over time.
But it doesn’t matter today.
Use what you own.
Or download one of the many free Bible apps available.
You can compare translations later.
The point is to read.
Should I Read or Listen?
Either works.
Some read.
Some prefer audio.
For me personally, listening while following along in print helps me focus.
Choose the format you will actually stay consistent with.
The structure works either way.
The Daily Rhythm
Every day:
Read one chapter of Proverbs that corresponds with the day of the month.
On the 5th, read Proverbs 5.
On the 23rd, read Proverbs 23.
There are 31 chapters.
In months with only 30 days, read Proverbs 30 and 31 on the 30th.
Over the course of a year, you will read Proverbs 12 times.
That repetition matters.
The Weekly Readings
Each Sunday, four additional readings are posted.
Each one includes:
- One Psalm (until all 150 are completed)
- Additional chapters totaling about 15–20 minutes
Read one per day, as your schedule allows.
No more than one per day.
No catch-up required.
The Time Commitment
Proverbs: about 5 minutes per day.
Weekly readings: about 15–20 minutes on reading days.
Total: less than 2 hours per week.
You have the time.
