  • Readings for 2/15 – 2/21

    Readings for 2/15 – 2/21

    Another week.

    Nothing dramatic.
    Nothing complicated.
Just the next set of readings.

    That’s the strategy.

    As always:

    • Read the chapter of Proverbs that matches the day of the month.
    • Work through the weekly readings as your schedule allows.
    • About 20 minutes a day. Often less.

    That’s it.

    No catch-up.
    No pressure.
    No commentary.

    Just steady progress.

    A reminder:

If you’re behind, you’re not behind.

There are no streak counters here.
    No one tracking your progress.
    No scoreboard.

If you stopped yesterday, start again today.
If you haven’t started yet, start now.
If you missed last week, ignore it.

    This isn’t about perfection.
    It’s about repetition.

    Over time, repetition becomes understanding.
    Understanding becomes perspective.
    Perspective becomes stability.

    Quietly.

  • So When Am I Supposed To Do This?

So When Am I Supposed To Do This?

    Whenever you will…

I’ve written about this before, but I still get asked when the best time is to do the readings.

The short answer is this: whenever you will actually do them.

Everyone’s day is different. Some people have time at the end of the day. Some first thing in the morning. Some around lunch. The timing matters less than the habit. Doing it at all matters more than doing it at a specific hour.

For me personally, if I do not do it first thing before anything else gets moving, I usually end up missing the day. It should not be that hard to set aside a few minutes, but you know how it goes. Once the day gets rolling, it has a way of crowding everything out.

One thing I have noticed about doing it in the morning is how often something I read lines up with what is happening in my life that day. Or something I need to hear. Or something that applies in a way I did not expect.

The Bible is not just a long list of rules or disconnected stories. When you pay attention to the context, it often speaks directly into real situations. Reading at the start of the day gives that room to settle and carry through whatever comes next.

That said, if mornings do not work for you, do it whenever they do. Just do it.

PS- I have not seen many new signups lately. The more people we have reading along, the easier it is for everyone to keep up. There is a social effect to it. I do not spend money advertising this or promoting it anywhere else, so it really does come down to word of mouth. If you are willing to share this with one person who might benefit from it, I would appreciate it.

    Enjoy reading!

  • You’re Running Out of Week

    You’re Running Out of Week

If you planned to get the readings done earlier this week and haven’t yet, this is your nudge.

Not a guilt trip. Just a reminder.

This isn’t one of those things that magically gets easier if you wait longer. If anything, the longer you put it off, the heavier it feels. Five quiet minutes today is better than a perfect plan that never happens.

If you’ve fallen behind, just pick up where we are, instead of letting the piled up readings discourage you.

While you’re at it consider sharing the site with one person you know. Not a blast. Not a post everywhere. Just one person who might actually read.

Just share this email with them, they can click the link below which will take them to the site where they can check it out. And if they like it they can sign up.

Let them know they don’t need to “catch up.”
They don’t need to wait until January when we start over.

This is an ongoing reading plan. You just start where we are.

Read what’s in front of you. Let it hit you where you are right now. Next year, you’ll get the earlier parts then. Nothing is lost.

    That’s enough.

Now close this and go read.
